Auburn Laboratories, Inc. was founded in 1999 by equine veterinarian, Michael Van Noy, DVM, and his wife, Joy. The couple shares a lifelong passion for horses and are now devoted to bringing the remarkable health benefits of adaptogens to horse owners and pet owners worldwide.
For nearly thirty years Dr. Van Noy specialized in equine veterinary medicine and owned his own practice in Northern California. His commitment and dedication to helping horses lead healthier, longer lives led him to the conclusion that adaptogenic herbs could provide nutrients which were otherwise missing from the modern horse’s diet. After nearly seven years of study and application in his veterinary practice, Dr. Van Noy became convinced that the phyto-nutrients in adaptogens were breakthroughs in nutrition, offering unique protection for every horse at every stage of life. His study led him to the development of the original formula, APF.

Auburn Laboratories, Inc. applies three levels of independent laboratory analysis as the framework of their quality assurance program. First, each batch of extracts is identified with a lot number and expiration date. Each lot is then analyzed by an independent food laboratory to certify that there are no contaminants. Once the purity of the extracts has been assured, a second independent laboratory utilizes high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) to certify that the various active constituents are at the correct levels. Finally a regulatory laboratory inspects the mixtures for the presence of substances that are banned for use during athletic competition. Once all three laboratory reports are completed, the extracts are entered into inventory and bottled for distribution.
