APF Pro
        EQUINE

Auburn Laboratories' APF was featured once again in HORSE JOURNAL, the prestigious consumer advocacy publication dedicated to informing horse owners about the best products, solutions, training programs available to meet virtually every need. In the new January issue, the article entitled, "Streamline Your Winter Horse-Care Program," APF was shown to protect horses who have a tendency to exhibit laminitic pain with the fall weather changes and the stress of cold in the winter.

"One group member reported that the adaptogen APF had snapped her horse out of winter laminitis pain, which he had been suffering with for years. This makes sense since adaptogenic herbs work by keeping cortisol from undergoing wide swings."

APF - Advanced Protection Formula - was developed to address the specific challenges caused by stress in the lives of our animals.  Uniquely formulated with adaptogenic herbs, APF helps maintain proper cellular energy by facilitating uptake and conversion of glucose, regulating immune response, and improving cellular response to signaling through hormones.

Stress is the invisible "cost" in virtually every experience because stress requires energy for the body to respond appropriately and make the myriad adjustments needed to remain healthy in changing environments.  This balancing act is called "homeostasis".

When repeated or chronic stress upsets this balancing act, the body is no longer able to effectively respond to stressors by making adjustments or "adaptations" and returning to normal or "homeostasis."  This is often when we see for the first time the physical result of stress in the appearance of disease or injury.

APF is the only product of its kind. Based on the innovative technology of adaptogens, APF delivers a completely different nutriitional profile than traditional vitamin/mineral supplements. APF has quickly become the "go to" product for horsemen and veterinarians when looking to support their horses' health.

INSULIN RESISTANCE

The herbs in APF are unique in their nutritional support for equine insulin resistant and Cushing's horses. APF's special formulation provides the following benefits:

  • Stabilizes blood glucose levels (has an insulin-like effect)
  • Helps prevent immuno-suppression due to increased or long-term cortisol secretion
  • Acts as an anti-oxidant, exerting protective and/or inhibitory action
  • Optimizes glucose utilization in muscle cells
  • Promotes higher levels of ATP and CP in muscle cells
  • Optimizes lipid metabolism (utilization of fats for energy production)

RECOMMENDED FEEDING PROTOCOL

We recommend feeding APF daily as a part of an overall nutritonal program.  Healthy horses should be fed a daily amount of 1 ml per 250 lbs.

For horses which are laminitic or whose tests show elevated insulin levels and/or Cushing’s Disease, please use 2 mls per 250 lbs as a daily dose. This amount may be divided into two doses, am and pm, if desired.

Upon retesting and evaluation, your veterinarian may advise lowering the APF gradually to a maintenance dose of 1 ml per 250 lbs. body weight. Careful monitoring should be done.

APF has been shown to be highly effective in mitigating and/or eliminating the undesirable side effects of pergolide. Please feed daily a minimum of 1 ml per 250 lbs. body weight.  An effective way to feed the daily amount of APF is to soak the it into a horse wafer.  We recommend SmartPak custom wafers.

"If I could feed only one supplement, it would be APF. I can't think of a single concern it doesn't address."

Healthy As A Horse

"...consider APF a little 'miracle in a bottle'...

Yahoo's Equine Cushings List

I recently diagnosed two adult Thoroughbreds with fungal pneumonias secondary to significant immune deficiencies. I used APF as an adjunct immune therapy being the only daily oral supplement while treating with antifungal medications. Both horses responded with IgM and IgG levels reaching the normal ranges and both horses survived the pneumonias.”
