Auburn Laboratories, Inc. was founded in 1999 by Dr. Michael Van Noy, an equine veterinarian, and his wife, Joy. Beginning in 1993, Joy and Michael used adaptogenic herbal formulas to support not only their own health and well-being, but also that of the horses in Dr. Van Noy’s San Francisco Bay Area veterinary practice. The initial formula they introduced to the equine supplement market in 1999 was APF – Advanced Protection Formula. Developed to provide general nutritional support for equines, it is still the first choice for many horse owners. APF Plus and APF Pro were introduced to address the specific issues facing the top equine athletes – immune health, gastric health, muscle health, energy, endurance, and recovery.

As part of our commitment to provide our customers with exceptional herbal products with repeatable and reliable health benefits, we have identified several laboratories which specialize in quantitative analysis of botanical ingredients utilizing high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). By using state of the art laboratory analysis of key botanical markers, we are able to consistently deliver products with reliable health benefits for your animals.

Prior to the Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia in 2000, Auburn Laboratories, Inc. played a pioneering role in evaluating the benefits of our early adaptogen formula – APF (Advanced Protection Formula), as immune support in healthy adult horses. The results have been published in the peer reviewed scientific journal, Equine Veterinary Journal, and are widely cited.
